The great news is that this is just the beginning! That’s the idea: The Early Access shows a glimpse of our product, which is not yet finished. So, help us finish it! We will listen to you, watch you play the game, see what needs to be improved, and where to focus our energy moving forward. The goal is to work hand in hand to make this the best game it can be. In that sense, we believe that today marks a small step towards a great result. So, thank you for being here, for supporting us, and for joining us on this adventure. It will be an even better odyssey for 1666: Amsterdam.

Want to know what to expect if you get the game in early access? Here’s a little overview of the road to the final game.

With the drop of 1666: Amsterdam’s early access after all the hurdles, passion and hard work put into it, it’s inevitable to feel all sorts of emotions, especially for Patrice, our cofounder and creative director who has waited 15 years to see his idea get into players’ hands.

“It’s satisfying to have shown tenacity and to finally be able to release this game. But the fear that this project you’ve been holding onto will receive a negative reaction from the audience is also very real.”

Patrice calls his general feeling the artist’s doubt: “There’s pride in what you’ve done. You feel you’ve made the right choices, but when you hand it over to your players, the sudden doubts that those were truly the right choices come crawling. It’s scary, but you can’t control what the audience thinks. You can only control what the team does. But the game’s uniqueness is bound to bring a fanbase who will find interest in what we have to offer. But I want to take advantage of this digital era. We don’t have to put the game on a disk anymore. We can continue to improve it with the players’ help, and that’s what we’ll do.”
